Just for fun, I want all of you out there to try and picture the following ‘imaginary’ scenario in your mind: You’ve endured a long, problem-laden day both on the job and on the home front; it’s nearing Midnight, you’re beat to like a throw rug, and just as you slink beneath the warm covers of your cozy bed, a waterline ruptures in your basement, quickly transforming the bottom floor of your house into a surging bonanza of dirty water. Sounds truly awful . . . that’s because it is. This is what’s called a plumbing emergency.

Even the most luxurious homes, from an exclusive southwestern mansion nestled on the New Mexico plateau outside Santa Fe, to the White House in our nations capital, has at one time or another, experienced some serious plumbing problems. Bathtubs, toilets, showers, bathroom/kitchen sinks, can all become hopelessly clogged-up with all sorts of disgusting gunk, with no amount of drain cleaner capable of unstopping the blockage. How about malfunctioning garbage disposals, ruptured sewer or gas lines, or some pesky water heater that just can’t seem to work right . . . the list of plumbing-related issues is endless, and sooner or later they’ll all need some fixing.

Or maybe (I couldn’t resist just one more example) there’s an imbalance in the water pressure . . . say someone flips on the kitchen sink and your refreshing hot shower shuts off in mid-stream, leaving you standing there with soap stinging your eyes. That’s a big annoying problem, right? Then you’ve got the whole ‘bad odor’ issue in the bathroom or kitchen. Yikes. It could be a burst pipe, a broken/leaky trap, or a defective wax ring. Our advice: hold your nose and get a plumber on the scene . . . asap.

I know it all sounds like way too much to bear, but relax . . . Remodel Tree is here to help. Just log onto our website and go to the page for ‘Plumbers,’ and we’ll get you fixed up with a whole host of experienced pros in your immediate area who can tackle even the messiest plumbing issue. No problem.

While it’s true that Summer is nearly upon us, it’s as good a time as any to make sure that your household/business heating systems are in full working order. The worst time to find out that your heating unit is on the ‘fritz’ is when the mercury starts to plummet right around Halloween.

Most areas of the United States experience yearly temperature swings that are pretty wide on both seasonal sides of the coin, hovering near the sweltering three-digit mark in Summer (with a healthy dose of humidity added in depending on where you happen to be) all the way down well below freezing come December/January. Going without an adequate heating unit in your home or business isn’t just mildly uncomfortable during a harsh winter . . . it can be downright dangerous as well.

The most common areas that might call for heating repair are usually faulty furnaces, broken boilers, and malfunctioning heat pumps.

Furnaces - Difficulties can arise at any time, some of the most common being a malfunctioning thermostat which may result in no heat or fan; problems with air-flow are usually traced back to inoperable fan motors, belts, or bearings; while intermittent heat is caused by the unit pilot malfunctioning or some other system control issues.

Boilers – Since boilers generate warmth by heating water that then circulates through pipes that lead to radiators, most issues are difficult to pin-point at first because the only clue you may to go on is a loss of heat or an unusual noise. But in the end, the majority of boiler problems are due to a loss of water pressure, water leaks, or blockages.

Heat Pump – Clogged filters, malfunctioning thermostats, and simple electrical issues are usually the main culprits when it comes to heating pump repair, but since heat pumps are more technical than your average heating unit, you should call a professional heating service professional when the pump decides to leave you in the lurch and go south for the winter.

Now while these are the most common types of heating units, they’re certainly not the only options available to you. And with more and more people becoming ‘green-conscious,’ now might be a good time to consider some of the more environmentally friendly ones. As a handy guide to greener living, check out this article on ways to ‘Green Your Heating.’

So yeah, it is only Spring and already here we are talking about getting prepared for the cold, but trust us, it’ll be here sooner than you think. Enjoy the coming Summer; just don’t get left out in the cold when November rolls into town. Lean on Remodel Tree’s expertise and we’ll be sure and put you in touch with the finest contractors around . . . no matter where you happen to live.

From New Year’s Day to December 31st twelve months later, there’s a whole slew of diverse weather systems that can wreck havoc on your home. Think about all that Mother Nature throws your way throughout the course of a year: with Winter you get snow, sleet, and ice; Spring brings heaps of intense wind mixed with rain, while Summer and early Fall dishes up wave upon wave of blistering heat, followed by the coming freeze of November. The world is a beautiful place for sure, but it can also be equally brutal and unforgiving, and at a moments notice. The only way to shelter your home from these year-round exterior threats is with the finest quality seamless steel siding available.

I know what some of you out there might be thinking: “My house has wood paneling already and that works fine.” Wood is good in certain types of situations, but still, many homeowners with wood paneled houses are familiar with all the hassles that come with it. Consider this: wood absorbs moisture, producing mold or fungi, which can lead to structural deterioration and possible health hazards to your family. Wood homes also have a tendency to shift slightly over time, creating gaps in the structure that can admit insects and other unwelcome pests. How good does that wood sound now?

And don’t worry about your home looking like a big shiny lunchbox after it’s been layered with steel siding; there’s hundreds of different types of steel siding options on the market that look exactly like wood: seamless steel siding, steel shake siding, steel shingle siding . . . and a whole lot more. Still not convinced that steel siding may be the way to go? Check out this article that praises the many benefits of opting for steel to protect your precious home.

There’s plenty to consider when it comes to protecting your home so it lasts for generations to come. Don’t let it stress you out . . . no one expects you to have all the answers. That’s why we’re here. Swing by Remodel Tree today and put your mind at ease.

A few poorly thought out steps with regard to what type of flooring to use throughout your house, and an otherwise gorgeous home could end-up looking decidedly bland and ‘out of date’ in just a few short years. Recklessly putting in the wrong type of flooring is a BIG mistake, especially given the fact that your home is undoubtedly the most costly investment you’ll probably ever make in your lifetime. That’s reason enough to care, right?

Deciding what kind of flooring will work best for you and in what situations brings up a whole host of issues that require careful consideration, mainly aesthetics, cost, and durability. Not all floor choices are equal; some can make small spaces look larger and more inviting, while others add a sense of brightness and warmth to an otherwise dreary area. As one of the most heavily trafficked areas of any home, you’ll want to make sure that your bathroom floor is as resistant to water/moisture and everyday wear and tear as much as possible. But at the same time, if going with one kind of material just isn’t in your budget, then it helps to have other flooring options at your disposal that’ll equally fit the bill without emptying your bank account in the process. See, lots of questions . . . and this is only the tip of the iceberg.

As the literal foundation upon which your precious home rests, isn’t it obvious that the choice of which type of flooring to use and where is of critical importance? It absolutely is, so start at the very beginning by mulling over some of the most popular flooring options out there by checking out this helpful article.

And when you’re ready to take things to the next level, head on over to Remodel Tree’s website where we can help put you in touch with a contractor that’ll do the job the way it was meant to be done: correctly, efficiently, and most importantly, the way you want it.

[gallery link="file"]Every room in a home has its own unique and special qualities to it, from the comfort of a well-decorated bedroom to the coziness and warmth of an inviting kitchen. Without a doubt, a bathroom is one of the signature ‘great’ rooms in any house . . . a quiet place for enjoying a few moments of much-needed solitude and the time-honored healing powers that only refreshing water can provide.

Originally bathrooms were single cramped rooms at the end of the hallway, often shared by many, or all, members of a large household. As society changed and individual tastes developed, bathrooms became more personal adjuncts connected to bedrooms, becoming ever larger and more personally defined in terms of space and function. Bathrooms were staring to take on an identity all their own, no longer merely utilitarian rooms of little consequence.

What was once only a tiny room with a toilet and sink has over the decades exploded into a world all its own – part powder room, dressing area, and even sitting space – loaded with all types of conceivable luxuries like whirlpools, hot tubs, saunas, wood burning fireplaces, with even the occasional entertainment system built right in as well. Still, given all these wonderful bathroom amenities, nothing beats something as simple as a really soothing, warm shower.

In fact, just to get the ‘wheels in your head’ turning so-to-speak, you’ll definitely want to check out these amazingly cool, and highly innovative shower designs.

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Remodel Tree now and put that plan of yours into action and realize the shower of your dreams today!

As humans, we really love all our ‘stuff’ don’t we? To borrow a phrase from one of comedian George Carlin’s classic routines from back in the 1980s, “a house is nothing more than a pile of stuff with a cover on it.” Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but at the same time, it’s a pretty keen observation that’s not too far from the truth, especially nowadays, right?

Thanks to the online shopping craze of the last 15 years or so, you don’t even have to leave your home anymore in order to buy whatever you want. Clothes, furniture, kitchen ware, electronics, even cars . . . all can be bought online while you sit peacefully at home in your robe sipping a warm cup of morning coffee. Of course, the number one problem when acquiring so much stuff is: where will I put it all?

This is where having plenty of awesome closet space scattered throughout your home becomes an absolute necessity. There’s lots of various things to consider when deciding on what types of closets you’re interested in designing for your home: will you expand an already existing closet into a larger space or maybe convert a small room instead? How will you divide up the closet space? How will it be lit? How will you utilize many of the often ‘missed’ areas like the space behind the door?

To help give you a better idea of what’s possible when it comes to designing a closet for your home, take a look at this article’s endless line of color photos . . . they’re bound to inspire your creative side. And when you’re ready to take the project it to the next step, check out Remodel Tree’s services. They’ll get you going in the right direction!

Roof-top gardens have been around for literally centuries, with men and women from the times of antiquity growing plants, trees, and shrubs of every variety atop structures to help keep their homes cool during the warmer months.

These days, the prospect of cultivating and maintaining a full-fledged garden in spots traditionally reserved solely for bulky TV/radio antennas and water towers seems downright odd. But it’s exactly in these types of bustling urban environments where roof-top gardens have really taken off over the last several years . . . and for good reasons, especially in cities like New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to name only a few.

According to this article in the Washington Post, the advantages of roof-top gardens are numerous in more ways that go beyond the ‘givens’ of mere energy efficiency . . .

To learn more about the benefits of various types of home remodeling possibilities, be sure and check out Remodel Tree.
